16” Pipeline Relocation, Pier F&G | Port of Long Beach, CA

The Port of Long Beach is undergoing a major rail expansion project to ease traffic congestion and improve air quality. As a result, DPSI’s client was directed by the Port to relocate portions of the pipeline at both Pier F and Pier G to make room for new tracks. The projects involved the excavation and boring under existing rails in the port terminals, installation of stopples, relocation of the pipelines, and required the use of shored excavations in busy Port thoroughfares.

DPSI’s scope of work included:

  • RFP preparation and management of bid process
  • Management of engineering, surveying, and potholing efforts
  • Management of on-site construction activities
  • Cost and scope management
  • Weekly cost and schedule reporting
  • Permit acquisition and compliance
  • Scheduling of inspection and management of all Quality Control documentation
  • Agency coordination including the City of Long Beach, The Port of Long Beach, and the US DOT Office of Pipeline Safety
