Position Title: Human Resources Coordinator

Location: Bakersfield

FLSA Status: Exempt; Salary

Hours: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm

(Note: Overtime may be expected)

General Summary

Maintains and enhances the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.

Essential Job Function

  1. Prepare or maintain employment records related to events such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
  2. Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  3. Recruit candidates for open positions, assist with interviewing, and process hiring related paperwork.
  4. Inform job applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits, schedules, working conditions, or promotion opportunities.
  5. Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  6. Schedule or conduct new employee orientations.
  7. Maintain and update human resources documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks or directories, or performance evaluation forms.
  8. Perform monthly benefit reconciliation.
  9. Track and process all EDD paperwork

10.   Assist with processing payroll liability payments (garnishments, 401k, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·         Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.

·         Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

·         Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.

·         Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Etc.)

·         Operate office equipment such as copier, fax machine, scanner, telephone system, etc.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or 2-4 years of related experience required
