Belridge Water Softening Plant | Belridge, CA

Aera Energy, LLC required assistance with planning, land surveying, engineering, and project controls support for an innovative 30-acre water treatment facility at their Belridge location. The water plant uses the latest technologies and is constructed using a modular approach. The use of 3D design and laser scanning allowed off-site prefabrication of pipe racks and piping. The plant was developed to aid and eventually replace the existing nearby facility which has reached capacity. It will be used to clean produced water to be used as boiler feed water and for other purposes such as reinjection. The project utilizes Last Planner methodology which focuses on promoting reliable workflow, enabling learning and feedback, making reliable promises, and using “lean” thinking and principles.

DPSI’s scope of work included:

  • Coordination of efforts by engineering disciplines as the project transitioned from preliminary to detailed design, through procurement and into construction
  • Project management efforts including master scheduling and comprehensive project reports that provided schedule and cost updates
  • Management of Automation & Survey control efforts, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Survey
  • Civil Engineering efforts including Grading and Drainage Plan, Dust Control Plan, Storm Water Prevention Pollution Plan, Septic System Design, and Horizontal Control Plan
  • Structural Engineering efforts including all necessary calculations needed for permitting of the pipe rack, pipe supports, foundations, and equipment pads
  • Geomatic efforts including preparation of a Constraints Map, Control and Monumentation, As-Built and Topographic Surveys, 3D Laser Scan, Preliminary Staking, Lot Line Adjustment, Ortho Aerial, Photo Survey, and Construction Staking Services
  • Permitting management services including state and local agency coordination to provide documentation required for project approval
