Subsea Pipeline Replacement

Project Details

Beta Offshore Production Complex | Long Beach, CA

Beta Offshore replaced two subsea intrafield pipelines running between platforms Elly and Eureka. This effort allowed reintroduction of water injection and reduced energy costs by insulating the pipelines and reducing power required for pumping.

The project involved:

  • Replacement of abandoned 12” gross fluids pipeline with new insulated pipeline
  • Replacement of 10” water return pipeline with new insulated pipeline
  • Return of the existing 6” pipeline to gas service

As Engineer of Record for the subsea pipelines, DPSI’s scope of work included:

  • Development of technical submittal for permitting to the Bureau of Ocean Engineering, Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE)
  • Calculation of energy efficiency savings based on pipeline insulation options
  • Assistance with Project Management and Logistics
  • Management support for on-site construction activities
  • Management of inspection and quality control during construction
  • New pipelines placed in service March 2012
